Set in the heart of Hadrian’s Wall Country, Warden is a beautiful and peaceful part of the Tyne Valley and the Boatside is a popular destination for locals, families as well as tourists looking for a hearty meal, a refreshing pint or a quiet glass of fine wine.
Our garden is comfortable and beautifully maintained and boasts a play area for children, meaning the whole family can enjoy themselves and if you have a dog, you are in good company as we have a reputation for being a dog friendly location.
Our bed and breakfast rooms are all situated in a separate annexe, meaning you can enjoy some rural peace and quiet after a busy day exploring the wonders of the Northumberland countryside
Our meals are freshly prepared and many of our ingredients are locally sourced and our excellent kitchen team has a superb reputation for producing generous, wholesome meals, with a menu that has something for everyone. You won’t go hungry at the Boatside!.

Quality has gone up an extra notch with the new team without having the silly prices as well. Staff very friendly and good value for money - altogether a very pleasant experience. Highly recommended.

I love this place Stunning service and polite staff As soon as we sat down we ordered drinks and food The food came in 5 minutes if ordering You don’t need to book you can just walk in But I would advise to book on a Friday night or a Saturday evening if you are in the pub as it tends to get a bit busy then but that is the only minor thing Also really dog friendly too I didn’t book a room but I would think that it would be stunning considering the amazing service of the boat side inn crew and staff Also very family friendly Not for from Hexham if you live there Would totally recommend this place 10/10 and 5 stars for all

Went for meal food good but expecting better I had mixed grill kebab. Egg was hard, chips were from a packet not much meat . location beautiful staff friendly however not exceptional. Dog friendly

Our homecooked dishes are freshly prepared by Head Chef Alex and his excellent team, using quality, seasonal ingredients and cooked entirely from scratch. We’re proud to offer a warm welcome, friendly and efficient table service, and a consistently enjoyable dining experience.
We change our menus seasonally, using the best available produce at the time to create flavourful, well-crafted dishes. Alex focuses on perfecting traditional British classics, prepared with care and consistency to deliver real quality on every plate.
We have recently been award with one AA Rosette, a first time for the Inn. This award shows Alex & the kitchen teams hard work is paying off!
Our menus are designed to suit all tastes and food styles, whilst taking into account a wide range of dietary requirements and allergies. We are passionate about offering a broad selection of gluten free options along with a variety of tasty vegetarian and vegan dishes.
Sunday lunch at The Boatside is renowned and should not be missed. Booking a table is highly recommended. Children will also not be disappointed, as we serve a menu full of kid’s classics and favourites.
