The average score on Google does not truly represent the quality of food and drink at this out of town pub. Went there for lunch today and could not fault the food or drink. Scampi, shepherds pie and venison pie all delicious. Apple crumble and sticky toffee pudding for dessert were sumptuous. Ale on handpump was from Purity Brewery, a balanced traditional bitter, served correctly. We will definitely be back for more. Good luck to Rob and his professional team of staff for 2024!

We used this pub over 25yrs ago when we first moved here, at that time a company owned it and used it as their 'Training pub' for their chain - didn't enjoy it at all and never been back until last night (27/10/23) Thought we'd try it again as we wanted a meal out for our 34th Wedding Anniversary. Very welcoming, polite and Customer focused staff, Food was excellent and we will be back! Obviously new owners and a much better experience. Would recommend to family & friends.

We had a lovely meal here today whilst travelling back to London. There is ample parking and the food was perfect. Overall really enjoyed our visit. Thank you!

We live local and came for lunch to see what the pub was like after a change of hand and a revamp. The inside is so much better with the back now a enjoyable place to sit. Lovely log burner which was lit as soon as we sat down. Very welcoming as we had walked through the snow with our 5 week old son. The food was great. Burger was very nice and so were the chips. My partner had the steak pie which was so nice I wished I had that instead. Had two largers which both tasted fine, no nasty taste which I've experienced elsewhere due to un clean lines. Very happy to finally have a decent local.
