About us

Twisters Bar is regarded one of Colchester’s top bars and the best alternative night spot in the town. Since opening in 1998, the bar’s DJs fuse great music from indie, rock and punk to classic soul, funk and more. We are famous for our drinks such as our extensive range of classic cocktails, teapots to share and a cool range of canned craft beers, all to be enjoyed in our bar or heated beer garden.

Such an amazing płace with the friendliest staff!! We were served by John and Dan, who were super lovely and charismatic, always recommending the best drinks and creating a relaxing atmosphere, a must stop when you’re in Colchester!!

Twisters Bar is a "hidden gem" but it certainly isn't hidden. Take a walk up/down North Hill and pop into one of the best bars in Colchester. I go in sometimes to finish off work or just chill for an hour with a pint or two before my Wife comes down for one of Johns great cocktails (really good price and 2-1 last time I was there). And best of all really friendly staff. I have never left a review before so onwards and upwards for Twisters and hopefully another 25 years beckons.

We always have a great time at twisters. Drinks are delicious and there are always new deals. Staff and very friendly, especially John who goes out of his way to help his customers. Looking forward to seeing you soon!

Have been to Twisters many times and have always had a good time. The selection of drinks is wide and includes fun cocktails such as the amaretto sour (recommended). Music is varied, erring toward rock, punk, new wave and later indie and alternative. Nice atmosphere. Building maintains many original features such as exposed beams. Staff always friendly and good to chat to - particularly Robbie, who has served us several times, and John the manager. Garden at rear with smoking area, which has tables, some shelter in the form of umbrellas and heating. Recommended as a stop on the way into town, as somewhere to spend longer at for a few drinks and for those who miss the V-Bar! DJ on certain nights, too.

Friendly staff and reasonably priced drinks. Often served by Robbie who always remembers us and John went out of his way to make it a good atmosphere and made me feel confident in ordering outside my usual despite numerous allergies.
