About us

Set at the gateway to the Isle of Purbeck in the picturesque Dorset countryside, The King’s Arms is an historic village inn steeped in character and warmth. An inn has stood at this site for the last 400 years, and there is no sign of this tradition changing anytime soon.

The building itself was once used as a butchers, and you can still spy the old hooks hanging below the canopy. Today, the inn serves pub food in a different style, with a tempting mix of modern and traditional dishes created by our experienced kitchen team.

The King’s Arms features in the Good Pub Guide and Good Beer Guide 2023. Our À La Carte Menu offers great pub food with something for all tastes, including children’s and smaller-appetite meals, vegetarian and vegan options, salads, pasta and all your traditional pub favourites.

Why not try some tasty local seafood from the South Coast for a true taste of the ocean?!

We love your doggy companions and they are welcome in the bar area and gardens. We always have a supply of treats for them if they are well behaved!!

Join us for our annual Whitsun Festival from 26th – 28th May 2023, showcasing live music and a great selection of real ales and traditional ciders.

Really great pub, nice and big and lots of room in the pub. We were in a private room which was great for a big family meal! The food arrived on time and was delicious! Great range of drinks and location is brilliant for a walk before/after. Staff were friendly and there’s parking right outside!

Very good! We were scouting for a pub with good food and good beer for our walking group... and the Kings Arms totally fits the bill... so we immediately rebooked. The lunch we had was excellent (the liver was awesome) and I am looking forward to going back!

What a fantastic place! We stopped off randomly for a spot of New Year’s Day lunch and it really didn’t disappoint. Their speciality is home cooked pub grub which is tasty and plentiful without breaking the bank. The service was spot on and nothing was too much trouble. We’ll be stopping off here again when we next visit the coast.

Enjoyed a lovely Sunday Roast today. The staff are friendly and very helpful. The food quality was excellent. Tables all nice land clean. Plenty of free parking. We will certainly be popping in again soon to this lovely friendly pub 😀👍🏻

Went for late lunch on a Sunday, was served by Michaela, was very friendly and polite, she showed us the daily specials and allowed me to swap a few options on the dish I wanted. Trio of Roasts (Sirloin of Beef/Pork Belly and Lamb) served with seasonal veg, cauliflower cheese, roast potatoes and a Yorkshire Pudding - it was amazing, proper good old hearty pub food. The Plaice with green beans, prawns, samphire and lemon butter was also tender, cooked to perfection and super tasty. Service was superb and cannot fault the attentiveness of Michaela throughout our visit, would highly recommended!!
