The newly refurbished Cart & Horses is a one-of-a-kind destination to catch up with friends in East London. Located just 50 yards from Maryland Station and a short walk from Stratford, we serve up the perfect blend of music, history, and hospitality.
Why We Rock:
Proudly known as the Birthplace of Iron Maiden, Cart & Horses was the band’s first residential venue where they played weekly gigs during their early years from 1976 to 1978. That legendary legacy lives on in our BRAND NEW basement live music venue, while the main bar offers a relaxed space to chill, catch up, or kick off your night.
PLEASE NOTE...NO Disabled access for the basement venue, SORRY.
Disabled access and facility only on the main ground floor bar.

Lovely homely pub with plenty of events to keep it exciting and love the iron maiden theme among other quirky decor to differentiate it from a standard pub. Typical range of beers. Simple food menu done really well and at a good price, especially making use of the 20% food discount before 7pm with a drink order. Had the Jotil Ultimate burger and it was tasty, not too oily and held it's shape until the last bite.

I thought it was closed down. But for me it doesn't matter. I wanted to come to Stratford / Maryland to take a couple of pictures in front of the pub. Imagine how I was totally surprised when noticed on Google maps that Cart & Horses was opened. So together with friend came here to see the place where Iron Maiden had first gig ever. Iron Maiden has been in my life for a long time since 80's. I am from Poznan in Poland and I was lucky to see them in my city twice on their World Slavery Tour in 1984 and Somewhere on Tour in 1986. Seen them in really great times for metal. Last time this year in Nottingham. They are great. It was awesome to be here in Cart & Horses and drink good beer.

A must for Iron Maiden fans. Didn’t eat, kitchen was closed while I was there, but there are nice selection of beers and cocktails as well. Thanks to the bartender, Ruth if I remember well, who gave us a lot of info about the place and let us visiting the concert zone. Thanks.

Amazing place, amazing bar, awesome staff!! A must for for everyone, specially foe Iron Maiden fans!!! I took my 8 years old kid till 9pm and it was really cool. They have live music.

Went here before Iron Maiden played at The O2 which seems like the perfect occasion. Great atmosphere with fellow concert goers. Certainly a must-visit for any Iron Maiden fan. Lots of Maiden themed memorabilia and artwork. Only down side was when I took back the Neck Oil as it had no fizz. The staff were adamant it was fine but I assured them it wasn't. They reluctantly let me have a different beer but not without purposely overfilling it and slamming it down on the counter to cause overflowing for a good 20 seconds. I appreciate it was a busy day for them but this left a slight sour taste.

(expired). 👉1- SORRY, No table bookings, as we may have to move some tables & chairs out to make space. 👉2- We're open from 10am to 3am 28th and 29th, food from 12pm. 👉3- Once we reach our capacity, entry will be 1 in 1 out. 👉4- Cart & Horses ticket holders for our night events will have the priority on the entry (still 1 in 1 out before 8pm Fri and 11pm Sat, you will get the priority to enter first if you have a ticket). 👉5- Both floors will be open all day for the fans to enjoy the party/food/music and atmosphere of the maiden family. 👉6- Main bar is open all day as usual, basement/music venue will be tickets only from 7-8pm Fri 27th & from 11pm Sat 28th. 👉 We wish our pub is 5000 capacity only for this weekend hahaha, let's all enjoy the 50th IM anniversary.
