In recent times he was chuffed to feature as a regular guest at Manchesters longest club night Funkademia, and is currently playing at the likes of Bask in Stockport.. he span after Jocelyn brown’: epic performance at Cheshire Festival on the main stage & kicked the set off with GK’s “taste of bitter love” and even JB’s band were dancin ;) A regular jock at the fabulous uber cool Ducie Street Warehouse you can catch him playing every week in the bar & club scene in one of the worlds most buoyant musical hubs that is Manchester, for a plethora of venues & promoters .. It all began after winning a multi heat dj competition with duo partner in crime Matt Luccock at Gatecrasher in 99! Aged 20-22 Flippant Rhythms first official proper paid gigs were basically super clubs . From an ace club in Mid Wales playing with Cream’s Paul Bleasedale to Gatecrasher upstairs room & the following year at Bed Sheffield hin room 2 with Tony Humphries headlining. Following this the first gigs in Manchester were at Elements and Angel Deelite & All Back to Ours . It sort of all went downhill from there he laughs! Over the years he feels blessed to have developed some great friendships with the Texas Houston’s electronic music scene & as a lover of all things house music and disco/funk/soul. Gareth's passion for music and understanding his audience has lead to the opportunities to perform at many venues in Houston, Austin & Miami some epic gigs at the block party Praia Urbana Festival, Present Company & Houston’s coolest hifi bar The Flat sometimes twice a year! In the UK his biggest festival gigs have been at Moovin Festival having played 3 times warming up for headliner acts such as Craig Charles, Amp Fiddler & Moodymann. Right now you can also catch Gareth featuring in Manchester at key venues such as Pen & Pencil , Exhibition & a 5 year residency at The Ivy Manchester . Like many Gareth loves the beauty of the music and the many passionate people for the music. And that’s why he Dj’s . Simple. He has played in countless venues globally , mixed records more than he has slept to crowds from 30 to 2000! Experienced to say the least, he loves music with soul & a good party! Not the best at social media algorithms but loves a good selfie. Flippant Rhythm basically became back room DJ experts doing back room takeovers at 2risque, Sankeys Redlight etc which lead to the loft at Egg London & Miss Moneypennys & Bushwackers . Hailing from Stockport (the new Berlin! Laughs) Gareth has also joined the likes of BBCs Nihal Arthanayake, CMcut&paste, Clint Boon, General Stores, Paint Jam & Syndikat with some very special Stockport street events in 2024. Another important gig he had was for 3 years was the silent discos at Pride Manchester. And of course spinning for Matt, Dave & Wisey spinning many times with the SSradio crew and their Beat Bunker festivals warming up for the likes of Atjazz, Julien Gomes & Pat Badeau. He has also promoted events such as All Back To Ours in the 2000s alongside Glyn Sheriston, Jason Vereker and later Dave Law & the brand ran events at Shoreditch’s Brickhouse on Brick lane and a 5 year residency at the infamous Atlas Bar, Manchester’s first cafe bar and a firm favourite with Hacienda’s Tony Wilson who was often stood at the end of the bar taking it all in. Over the years some of his highlight included stalwart clubs such as Pacha Ibiza, Soul Heaven Ibiza with Louie Vega, Sankeys Soap Manchester, Miss Moneypennys Birmingham & 6 gigs at Buddha Bar Dubai in 2015 & 2016.. And not to mention a flurry of gigs for Mario at The Vortex in Croatia when visiting Suncebeat annually for 10 years on the bounce. Right now you can also catch Gareth featuring in Manchester at key venues such as Pen & Pencil , Exhibition & a 5 year residency at The Ivy Manchester . Like many Gareth loves the beauty of the music and the many passionate people for the music. And that’s why he Dj’s . Simple. As a dj influenced most by Louie, Kenny, Kerri, Grant, Spen, Karizma, MCDE, Sadar, Rahaan,, Greg Wilson etc etc he is a proper mixer, features lots of acapellas, technical transitions & likes it loud! , why not book him! For giggles he entered a competition & beat off 750 entries to be a Park Life Festival DJ finalist in their competition in 2023 he didn’t go but it was a reminder to himself he still got them skillz … 😂
